Characters drawn with distinctive body shapes/facial features. Costume-swap/wearing your girlfriend’s clothes. Bodyswap, especially with characters from different species or with vastly different powersets. Fic where everyone around our ship already thinks they’re dating and they are the last to find out. Bondage & D/s themes, especially if the bigger/tougher/stronger/scarier character is submissive. Rivals-to-lovers. Bright colours for superhero stuff, deep blacks/heavy inks in horror and fantasy stuff. Supernatural themes. Awkward teenagers. Musician AUs. Crossovers between requested fandoms. Sad human x ghost or human x immortal love stories. Time travel (meeting their own past/future self or their partner’s). Athletic and superheroic characters drawn with muscle definition.
I tend to prefer stylized art to photorealism. I’m always impressed by people who do fannish crafting, so if you want to do that instead of drawing for an art gift that’s absolutely welcome!
If you want to interpret any characters here as trans or non binary that’s welcome (personally I read Cass Cain as agender and Cassie Sandsmark as a trans girl, but feel free to write or draw either of them without taking that into account). I’m happy to receive fic or art of any rating (see letter for some exceptions).
Nothing sexual with characters under 16, nothing explicit with characters under 18. No dub/non con. No unrequited pining except where indicated. No A/B/O. No stories where homophobia is the focus. This is a bit of a weird one but please don’t give any character a pet hamster.
I’m just spitballing out ideas here, pick any that seem interesting to you or do your own thing, no need to try and fit in everything, I just have a lot to say!
Fandom: St. Trinian's (2007), St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold (2009)
Music: This Girl is Taking Bets, Thea Gilmore
Summary: She's a four-minute warning, she is hell to pay.
Content notes: Drug/alcohol use
About half of these shots have been sitting here in my brain for literal years, I'm glad that I now have the skills (and a good enough computer) to actually make the vid.
Frankenstein: or, the Modern Prometheus: Trends in Twentieth- and Early Twenty-First Century Illustrated Editions
( With heartfelt thanks to the librarians and other helpful people at Robarts Library, Toronto Reference Library, and the Merrill and Osborne collections. )
Fandom: Crimson Peak
Music: Our House, Marisa Berenson and the Muppet Orchestra
Summary: When you come to our house, we will have some fun.
Content notes: Blood, violence, death, sibling incest
My goal is to make a vid for every month this year. This being only the fifth of March, I'm well ahead of the game. (This was actually supposed to be my immediately-post-Festivids project but then the Carrie vid... happened to me.)
Title: What A Way To Make A Living
Music: 9 to 5, Dolly Parton
Fandom: Black Books
Summary: I swear sometimes that man is out to get me.
Made for GhostTownExit00 for Festivids 2015-2016
This was tons of fun to make! I try to pay attention to internal motion when I'm vidding and the show footage was very cooperative in that respect. In a helpful coincidence, the day I started working on this Black Books got put on Canadian netflix, so I had a lot of friends and family watching or re-watching the show who I could subject to my various drafts. None of them are likely to see this post but, just in case, thanks guys!
And then I dashed off a draft of a five-minute vid in three days, which I have now made as presentable as I feel I'm able.
Title: Stretched On Your Grave
Music: I Am Stretched On Your Grave (Apple-Bright Mix), Sinéad O'Connor
Sources: Carrie (1976, 2002, 2013), Carrie 2: The Rage
Summary: Sue, are you sure you aren't still trying to save a girl who died 20 years ago?
Warnings: Death, blood, suicide, bullying. Surprisingly little menstrual horror or abusive parents given the source material.

I’m always impressed by people who do fannish crafting, so if you want to do that rather than a drawing for an art gift that’s totally cool. I tend to prefer stylized art to photorealism. I’ve been on a Jack Kirby kick this summer, if want to have a Kirbyesque influence (or just draw some Kirby dots) in your art!
If you want to interpret any characters here as trans or nonbinary that's welcome (personally I read Cass Cain as agender and Cassie Sandsmark as a trans girl, but feel free to write or draw either of them without taking that into account). I'm happy to receive fic/art of any rating.
Dislikes: Dub-con, non-con, adult/teen pairings, sexual content with characters under 16, porn with characters under 18, unrequited pining except where indicated, A/B/O, stories all about homophobia/coming out (not that these things can’t exist in your work I’d just prefer them to not be the focus). This is a bit of a weird one but please don't give any characters a pet hamster.

Thank you so much for offering these fandoms/characters!
F/F or gen preferred except where noted. Crossovers totally encouraged. No non-canon character death, no rape/noncon, nothing sexual with characters under 16 or explicit with characters under 18.
This is uh, kind of long. Feel free to ignore specific prompts and do whatever speaks to you instead, here are just some ideas!

I had computer difficulties right after I finished this vid and lost the signed version and the drafts, so the DL link is to a higher-quality version of the unsigned one. ???? is me.
This was a love-letter to a fandom I'm not really in anymore. I made myself cry almost constantly while working on it, so I'm glad from the comments that other people feel the same. I didn't think I still cared this much about these films but I proved myself so, so wrong. Clipping was a nightmare, even after I decided there was no possible way to do a whole-trilogy vid. I hadn't watched any of the special features in literally ages and I had forgotten exactly how much there is!
I'm super fucking proud of this thing, all five-plus minutes of it.
Chava: Why is everything suddenly going onhiatus until March?
Gwen: so you have nothing else to do except watch skating with me? :P
Chava: Heh, maybe
Gwen: do it do it
Chava: You'll have to send me some then
Gwen: -steeples fingers-
What have I done?
and this is much easier and more efficient than sending her individual links to things. plus i can throw a DW link at other people too!!
( what the fuck is gwen talking about all the time anyway pt 1: men's singles )
...This is nothing like that.
( (It's mostly about Kurt's ridiculously shiny pants.) )
weirdly specific category for the week: ( top five second-place finishes by canadians at major international competitions, 1980-2002 )
I've been in a lot of internetless places lately, wherein I coped with boredom by making icons. Credit for the original photos goes to Tina Tyan, Brett Barden and David Carmichael, and Andrea Chempinski.
( Wanna love you like I'm indestructible )
I have a lot of Thoughts about this scene, how it is about queer ladies co-opting the male gaze narrative inherent to pin-ups, but I'm not particularly articulate at the moment, so you're getting icons instead.
( I used to be so much better at coming up with appropriate quotes/lyrics/etc for cut texts I am drawing a blank here... )
There were a lot of things I was considering doing if I got this square, it applies very readily to nearly all my fandoms.
But then while I was messing around on youtube watching through everything Kurt Browning has ever done, I came across this:
Kurt: "I'm trying to skate as a figure skater in hockey skates. It's not a comedy, it's a real solo, I just want to show a different aspect of my skating. And again, after twenty years, you're always trying to reinvent yourself. And Canadians love hockey, so I hope it'll work. But it's-- I'm not relaxed. At all. Not at any second in this program am I relaxed. I've got a hat to deal with, and a tie flying around, and a jacket, and these hockey skates, with about this much [gestures, about an inch, inch] balance spot on it, and I have to remember constantly that I'm in hockey skates. If I forget for a second, I'll switch back to figure skating mode and I'll be on my ass in a split second. And I don't relax until I'm done, and even then, I gotta get off the ice."
So what we have here is an internal hyper-awareness of the fact that he's dressed in clothes that aren't his, while outwardly projecting ease and coolness. That's-- well, definitely dress-up kink, and it's incredibly hot. The tension of trying to skate clean and perform well-- perform Sinatra and Jagger respectively-- while not letting yourself actually be comfortable. There is some fascinating shit going on here. I could sit here and babble excitedly about this all night, but this is a picspam post so probably I should get to the pictures and such.
( Two more videos and a bunch of photos behind the cut )
