I had the seed of the idea that became this vid before Festivids nominations closed in the fall and finished it in June, by far the longest time I've ever spent on one vid. I'm glad I did, because I'd be kicking myself if I'd finished before the Monster Factory Wrestling Federation stuff was released, it turned out to be pretty important.

The Boys Are Back [Monster Factory tribute vid] from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Vid: The Boys Are Back

I totally forgot to post this one here!

Fight Song (figure skating montage) from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Vid: Fight Song
Music: Rachel Platten
Fandom/Ship: Ladies Figure Skating, gen
Summary: I was all set to make an ice dance montage after Worlds and then the ladies event happened and I had about eleven simultaneous emotions and made this instead. Every one of the top-six women has so much to be proud of.

I got this wonderful Galaxy Quest vid by [livejournal.com profile] littleheaven70 ! I love when a vid manages to compress an entire film into five minutes or less without missing any important beats, and this one is just so much fun to watch.

I made a Space Cases vid for [personal profile] elipie who requested either Cat/Suzee or Harlan/Radu-- Cat/Suzee turned out to be beyond my capabilities as a vidder (if you're unfamiliar with the show, they never appear on screen at the same time but are still the Formative F/F Ship of my heart) so after a couple false starts I ended up with this!

It was so nice to have an excuse to rewatch this show. It was horrible to be watching this show and not allowed to talk publicly about it because listen: I love this show. There might be at least one more Space Cases vid in me because I have more to say about this world and these characters. (Cat, Suzee, and Elmira kept trying to wiggle their ways into this vid. If I can ever find the right song to make an OT5 vid I will do that thing.)

Space Cases: Not Alone from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Vid: Not Alone
Music: Britney Spears, Alien
Fandom/Ship: Space Cases, Radu/Harlan
Summary: The stars in your eyes look like home (take me home).

Another Drive In Saturdays Podcast inspired vid. I thought to myself, "Hey! Wouldn't this song make a deeply upsetting Hair vid?" and then I played vid chicken with myself for a few days and now here we are.

The Cruel War (Hair 1979) from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Vid: The Cruel War Music: Roger McGuinn/clumsily edited by me Fandom: Hair (1979) Summary: My Johnny has to fight.

Death Race 2050 from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Vid: Planetary [Go!]
Music: My Chemical Romance
Fandom: Death Race 2050 (2017)
Summary: Just don't let go.
Content notes: Death, blood, gore, car crashes, state-sponsored violence.

I watched this movie about a week ago and felt the immediate desperate must-vid-this-now pull of hyperfocus. It was everything I wanted from a Death Race 2000 remake. Thank you, Roger and Julie, for this gift.

I received this wonderful IDW Jem vid from [personal profile] garrideb, a tribute to comics!Pizzazz.
And I made this:

Don't Panic from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Fandom: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981 TV)
Music: Dance Apocalyptic, Janelle Monae
Summary: I need to know-- if the world says it's time to go, tell me, will you freak out?

I hadn't seen the TV series in years and years and it was an absolute joy to revisit as an adult! If you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a long time, I recommend it. I certainly appreciate TV Trillian more now than I did at thirteen or so-- She made no sense to me then, but as a woman with a graduate degree and no real career prospects, if someone offered me a job in my field but the catch was I had to dress like a SF pulp cover I'd jump at the chance now.

I also posted a recs list here on tumblr! Lots of great vids this year, including some I wish I had made.

This Girl [St. Trinian's fanvid] from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Fandom: St. Trinian's (2007), St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold (2009)
Music: This Girl is Taking Bets, Thea Gilmore
Summary: She's a four-minute warning, she is hell to pay.
Content notes: Drug/alcohol use

About half of these shots have been sitting here in my brain for literal years, I'm glad that I now have the skills (and a good enough computer) to actually make the vid.
gwenfrankenstien: Bette and Rose from the Wolf House series (fireproof hearts)

Our House [Crimson Peak fanvid] from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Fandom: Crimson Peak
Music: Our House, Marisa Berenson and the Muppet Orchestra
Summary: When you come to our house, we will have some fun.
Content notes: Blood, violence, death, sibling incest

My goal is to make a vid for every month this year. This being only the fifth of March, I'm well ahead of the game. (This was actually supposed to be my immediately-post-Festivids project but then the Carrie vid... happened to me.)

Festivids 2015: What a way to make a living from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Title: What A Way To Make A Living
Music: 9 to 5, Dolly Parton
Fandom: Black Books
Summary: I swear sometimes that man is out to get me.
Warnings: None
Made for GhostTownExit00 for Festivids 2015-2016

This was tons of fun to make! I try to pay attention to internal motion when I'm vidding and the show footage was very cooperative in that respect. In a helpful coincidence, the day I started working on this Black Books got put on Canadian netflix, so I had a lot of friends and family watching or re-watching the show who I could subject to my various drafts. None of them are likely to see this post but, just in case, thanks guys!
gwenfrankenstien: Bette and Rose from the Wolf House series (fireproof hearts)
So I had a very, very bad day on Tuesday, and a day off on Wednesday in which I watched three Carrie films in a row to recover from Tuesday.

And then I dashed off a draft of a five-minute vid in three days, which I have now made as presentable as I feel I'm able.

Stretched On Your Grave from Gwen Frankenstein on Vimeo.

Title: Stretched On Your Grave
Music: I Am Stretched On Your Grave (Apple-Bright Mix), Sinéad O'Connor
Sources: Carrie (1976, 2002, 2013), Carrie 2: The Rage
Summary: Sue, are you sure you aren't still trying to save a girl who died 20 years ago?
Warnings: Death, blood, suicide, bullying. Surprisingly little menstrual horror or abusive parents given the source material.
