The Crew of the HMS Robin

I finished the Steampunk Robins! I um, have a LOT to say about it, because apparently I am better at worldbuilding than like, actually creating things. So if I get rambly and tl;dr, just look at the pretty pictures?

The HMS Robin was one of the first and finest airships designed and built by noted inventor and adventurer Theodore Kord. Her construction was commissioned by Bruce Wayne, the Rt. Hon. Earl of Gotham, who captained the vessel until his untimely death, which has left the Robin metaphorically rudderless and her crew in turmoil.

The Robin was a vital tool in Lord Gotham's crusade against the threat of piracy and the illicit opium trade, a mission which all her crewmen (and women) have sworn to uphold.

(l-r: Miss Stephanie Brown; Master Damian Wayne, Viscount Bludhaven; Mr. Jason Todd; Miss Caroline Keene Kelly; Captain Richard Grayson, the Rt. Hon. Earl of Gotham; Master Timothy Drake, Esq.)

Captain Richard Grayson, the Earl of Gotham (formerly Viscount Bludhaven):

As a young child, Richard watched, helpless, as his parents, famed carnival performers, were murdered by pirates. As the circumstances mirrored his own childhood trauma, Lord Gotham adopted the boy as his ward and heir. This prompted scurrilous and unfounded rumours as to Richard's true parentage.

As he grew older, Richard began to resent constantly being in his adopted father's shadow. He has on several occasions left the Robin to captain his own airship, the Titan, although he always returns home when he feels he is needed.

As he was both Captain Wayne's first mate and Lord Gotham's heir, he has inherited both the ship and the title against his wishes & those of much of the crew, although he has the unwavering support of Alfred Pennyworth (not pictured), his father's gentleman's gentleman.

Mr. Jason Todd:

Jason's father was a crewman on the Janus, a fearsome airship captained by the notorius Two-Face Dent. In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, Jason's methods of dealing with pirates are notably violent even when compared to his crewmates.

After his father's death when Jason was eleven years of age, Mrs. Todd became increasingly reliant on opium until her own death a year later. Now orphaned, Jason stowed away aboard the Robin, where he made his home for several years. During a particularly perilous battle, Jason was believed to have been lost. He resurfaced some time later, bitter and angry at having been left for dead.

He has been offered his old position as the Robin's quartermaster, which he has reluctantly accepted.

Master Timothy Drake, Esq.:

As a child, Timothy longed for adventure. He devoured tales of adventure and piracy with a voracity that worried his father, who had made his fortune in the garment industry. Timothy made a promise to his father that he would not abandon said business, and he is still plagued by his own inability to keep that promise. Immediately following his father's death, Timothy petitioned for a job aboard the Robin as an Analytical Engineer.

Timothy is engaged to crewmate Miss Stephanie Brown, who he intended to marry as soon as he comes of age. At present, he does not have access to his inheritance, and therefore could not support a family.

Their plans have been thrown off by the unexpected death of the Captain and Timothy's subsequent promotion to first mate.

Miss Caroline Keene Kelly:

Caroline was a student at the Lady Elias Finishing School for Young Ladies. Recognising that the life of an Elias alum (namely, marriage to a wealthy gentleman) was not for her, Caroline began planning her escape in her second year.

Along with her roommate, Miss Stephanie Brown, Caroline applied to join the crew of the Robin with the help of a mysterious benefactor, the Oracle. Caroline is as yet unaware of this, but the Oracle is in fact a pseudonym of former aeronaut Miss Barbara Gordon, a teacher at Lady Elias.

Using the skills taught to her by Miss Gordon, Caroline has filled the Chief Analytical Engineer position left vacant upon Master Timothy's promotion.

Miss Stephanie Brown:

Like Mr. Todd, Stephanie's father was connected with illegal activity. She was accepted into Lady Elias on a scholarship provided by Lord Wayne to children of prisoners, for which she is grateful. She was in her final year at Elias, with intent to go on to nursing school upon graduation, when her roommate offered to take her aboard the Robin.

Stephanie is grateful that the date of her wedding has been pushed back indefinitely. Since she joined the Robin's crew, she has developed a thirst for adventure, on a level that married life most certainly cannot provide.

Stephanie is apprenticing with the ship's physician, Dr. Leslie Thompkins (not pictured), one of the country's first women to graduate with a medical doctorate. She hopes to take over Dr. Thompkins' duties once the older woman retires.

Master Damian Wayne, Viscount Bludhaven:

The youngest crewman on the HMS Robin, Damian is the late Lord Gotham's only legitimate child. He believes himself to be entitled to his father's title, ship, and fortune, despite all three of the above being left to Richard Grayson.

Damian's mother, Lady Talia, is the daughter of the Persian pirate-baron Ra'as Al Ghul. The boy has been raised by his mother's family, putting his moral code at odds with the rest of the crew, with the possible exception of Mr. Todd.

Damian's haughty, imperious attitude have not made him many friends in the crew, but Captain Grayson has allowed the boy to remain on board in his father's memory.

I kind of want every single article of clothing in this picture, not gonna lie. Well, except Steph's boots, I already own a pair.

I want to at some point draw the faculty of the Lady Elias school (basically, the Birds of Prey), once I find a design I like for a steampunk wheelchair.
