I had been thinking a lot about this one tumblr post that's like... making fun of people for saying 'oh if this movie came out today people would romanticise Jareth' because according to the tumblr post that's the whole point of his character and... wow do I ever disagree! I too used to make 'Sarah's an idiot for giving up on the chance to have David Bowie be in love with you' jokes when I was Sarah's age and I'm quietly horrified by that now. He's a powerful, predatory adult and Sarah is an incredible heroine for being able to see through his manipulation by the end. I knew I wanted a song with a whimsical hippie feel but with that undercurrent of strength and bitterness, so early Joni seemed the obvious place to go.

I first watched Labyrinth, a year? 2, maybe (time is an illusion), and when I searched for fanwork afterwards because the movie had me feeling things, I was a bit disapointed/alarmed by how the Sarah.Jareth romance things seemed to be the only things I could find (maybe I did not look hard enough) when for me the thing you showed so great in your video was one of the points I loved so much in the movie. Sarah shows so much strenght, and the movie is on her side, the Goblin King is in the wrong. I dont know it is just nice to see this take.
also you are right the music fits the movies aesthetic very well.
