gwenfrankenstien: icon by me, art by Art Balthazar (even robins)
I don't even have words to describe how pissed off I am at this bullshit.

However, this is a thing that will exist! On the other hand, so is this. I don't even know anymore.

Honestly, I'm not going to even try to be clever and articulate and write angry letters, right now. I don't have time, I have two essays and three tests in the next two weeks. And there's a comic-con this weekend. And then Passover starts Monday. And then it's Easter. I am stupidly busy and also, now, really angry! And tired.

So, um, distraction time!

Comment with one or more pairing(s) I ship and I'll tell you:

1. When I started shipping them
2. What I think their challenge is
3. What makes me happy about them
4. What makes me sad about them
5. What moment I wish had never happened
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
7. My happily ever after for them if I have one, or where I think they'll end up

(I was going to post this under f-lock because I'm afraid I'm Doing It Wrong, but I gave up self-doubt for Lent.)

So this morning, Amanda Palmer issued this formal apology. And, y'know, it's nice to see her actually acknowledge that people were offended, even if it is the biggest "I'm sorry you were offended" nonpology I've seen in a long time.

While some of the commenters have nice insightful things to say, the majority of them pissed me the fuck off all over again. To the point where I made a Bingo Card. )

Here in Canada, we really really like Margaret Atwood. Like, really. And, based on her actual writing, that's fair! Her books say some very interesting and important things!

But then she speaks, and, well.

I mean, I've been annoyed at Atwood since the time she decided she didn't write sci-fi, because her book had no space ships in and therefore it was "literature." But this-! Here are the things I have learned from this interview:

- Women have to pick up after our husbands because they're hunters and we're gatherers, so they can't see socks on the floor!

- The women in Handmaid's Tale aren't oppressed!

- Science doesn't kill rainforests, people do!

- People go to Toronto to cuddle bears because of Winnie the Pooh!
