Yet another [livejournal.com profile] heroines_fest piece, for the prompt "An AU or displaced Spoiler joins the Runaways."

I couldn't NOT take that prompt. )

OKAY OKAY OKAY.

If you are or ever were a Stephanie Brown fan, and you got pissed off by the bullshit way she was treated by both by Batman in-story and by DC as a company...

You NEED "Batgirl: Bruce Wayne: The Road Home" in your life RIGHT NOW.

I just. It is so fucking perfect, I was shaking and crying.*

Seriously. If you are not in a position to go buy any comics right now, shoot me a message and I'll scan it tomorrow. I'm anti-sharing-full-comics-online in general (working at a comic shop will do that to you) but for this gloriousness I'm making an exception. (Besides, y'all are my friends, and I lend comics to my non-internet friends all the time.)

* To be fair, I'm having a weird brain-day and I've been moved to tears by at at least four different things today.

Today's question is Favourite Power, which I don't think I actually have an answer to because most of my favourite characters don't have them. I'm a Batfamily fan! My favourite will basically always be the Badass Normal!

So no real meme answer today. But before I go-- I made a thing! A Steph tribute vid to "Joyful Girl" by Ani Difranco, because could there be a more perfect Steph song? I don't think so. Watch it here on YouTube or embedded, behind the cut. (Fair warning: There are some War Games panels in this, if you (reasonably!) want to avoid thinking about that story.)

She does it for the joy it brings. )

Hello, Internets! It is Pride weekend in Toronto, but it is also approximately a million degrees Celsius outside and I did the Dyke March thing yesterday, so fuck going outside. So instead I drew some things! (Actually, lately I've drawn a LOT of things, but these are the ones that I don't hate.)

I make sort of compulsively make icons to deal with stress, anger, or just generally feeling like shit. And then they pile up and nothing ever happens to them. Except that I'm not letting that happen right now! I am sharing them with you, the internet! Don't you feel loved.

Okay, I've calmed down from the rage/hurt I was feeling last night and this morning, [livejournal.com profile] chavamara should be here soon for the Watching of the Films, I remembered to eat breakfast and lunch today...

I think it's time for an art post.

Since it seems to be the thing that everyone is talking about: Steph's new costume.

Now, I like this costume! I had no idea people didn't like Steph's utility garter, it's one of my favourite costume elements. It's unique and practical. The low-slung belt isn't particularly practical, but it's cool enough that I'll let that go. And it looks like her boots have steel toes! I've been saying Steph should have steel-toed boots for years, I think they'd be good for her.

I love the colour scheme. It reminds me of Spoiler, obviously, but also of some of Huntress' better costumes. And, of course, the cut is very similar to Barbara's classic Batgirl costume. I would have included more of Cass' design elements, though. Maybe the hollow logo.

I have to say, I was hoping for something more reminiscent of Steph's Robin costume, though. Kind of an updated Betty Kane Bat-Girl, in eggplant of course. I like the skirt-over-tights look.

...Okay, I have to go trek up to school now. And this is as long as I can talk about Steph-as-Batgirl without getting into incoherent capslock with lots of exclamation marks. Steph! In her own title! As a legitimate member of the Batfamily! (I'm still a little worried, to be honest. We all know what happened last time Steph got a promotion.)
