gwenfrankenstien: Cartoon version of Mattell's Frankie Stein doll, the teen daughter of Frankenstein's monster (undead het otp)

Hello, Internet! I have spent the past three days obsessively reading all the Macdonald Hall fanfic I can find, because I can't get my hands on any of the actual books right now! God, I loved these books so goddamn much when I was a kid, I think they are the only series I read that didn't have a) kid wizards or b) kid detectives in. My brain is stupidly susceptible to sudden and unpredictable fits of overwhelming nostalgia, okay, it is a Thing. (Did anybody read those? Because I am pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] cws_eat_chs is sick of me talking about them already.)

I'm trying to have a higher content:meme ratio, but I guess all the Tim Burton reviews last week technically count as content. So:

-Write down twenty nineteen of your favorite pairings/threesomes/etc.
-Put your media player on shuffle. The number of the song corresponds to the number of the pairing.
-Quote a part of the song that you think has any similarity with the couple.

1. Babs/Dinah

"Maddening Cloud" -- Blonde Redhead

Sure you can look back
If it means moving on
And you can take me back
But you must come home
[....]
And she said
I can't feel my toes
And she must be alone
And far too cold

Aaand we're off to an excellent start! EVEN THE BAND NAME IS PERFECT.

2. Bruce/Jason

"Summertime" -- Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong

Oh, Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry

One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky

This is kind of horrifically inappropriate, aha.

3. Steph/Cass

"American Pie" -- Don MacLean

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
But she just smiled and turned away.

LOOK, IT IS THE CLOSEST TO FITTING THEM THAT SONG DOES. It is about Buddy Holly and Jesus!

4. Tim/Steph/Jason

"Bluesboy" -- Amanda Palmer

and I sat by the window
you wrote a story
you think I'm evil
I hope you're wrong
and still I felt a spark
when it's implied that I had been a good thing
once

...Hello, scarily perfect song!

5. Arthur/Guenevere/Lancelot

"Same Old Train" -- Clint Black and Alison Krauss

From the outer gates of heaven, to hell fire's burnin' door
It don't matter where you take it,
'Cause it's been there before

I am seeing this as the AKOTAS versions, where this is literally true.

6. Bruno/Boots

"Tweeter and the Monkey Man" -- Headstones

The town of Jersey City is quieting down again
I'm sitting in a gambling club called The Lion's Den
The TV set is blown up, every bit of it is gone
Ever since the night when they showed that the Monkey Man was on

Maybe I'll go to Florida, get myself some sun
There ain't no more opportunity here and everything's been done

HELLO NEW-OLD FANDOM. I figure this is how the school feels after they graduate; how could anybody else ever top them in the Shenanigans department?

7. Cathy/Diane

"Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" -- MCR

Late dawns and early sunsets, just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands and life was perfect, just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living

Up and down escalators, pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales, trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here

The world REALLY DOES NOT NEED a Macdonald Hall Emo Vampires AU. At ALL.

8. Oliver/Geoffrey/Ellen

"Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" -- James Taylor

Go away then, damn you,
Go on and do as you please,
You ain't gonna see me gettin' down on my knees.
I'm undecided, and your heart's been divided,
You've been turning my world upside down.

This one actually works pretty well. Because, uh, it is about really messed up people.

9. Geoffrey/Darren

Stares conceal
Par-parallels
Neigh-neighbors call
All in all in all in all in all

This song... Does not really fit at all, does it.

10. Hope/Curtis

"Movies Of Myself" -- Rufus Wainwright

Start making my heart sing something that it doesn't want to say
I'm handing it over, I'm saying that you're the only one
Don't run for the border, turn that corner
Already you've run in movies of myself

The whole movie thing is a very Curtis metaphor, but this song fails to capture an appropriate level of Wacky Sitcom Hijinks.

11. Cassie/Cissie

"Blue" -- Joni Mitchell

Well there're so many sinking now
You've got to keep thinking
You can make it through these waves
Acid, booze, and ass
Needles, guns, and grass
Lots of laughs, lots of laughs

I had never thought of this as a Cissie song before, but you know what? It totally is.

12. Xavin/Karolina

"Call Me Ishmael" -- Get Cape Wear Cape Fly

You are not your job, and you are not the clothes you wear,
You are the words that leave your mouth so speak up, speak up loud,
For none of us want to sit

Does not really fit, so I just took lyrics I like...?

13. House/Amber/Wilson

"Sisters of Mercy" -- Leonard Cohen

Yes you who must leave everything that you cannot control.
It begins with your family, but soon it comes around to your soul.
Well I've been where you're hanging, I think I can see how you're pinned:
When you're not feeling holy, your loneliness says that you've sinned.

I don't know, that verse just seems very House.

14. Joe/Billy

"Tainted Love" -- Soft Cell

Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give
You take my tears and that's not nearly all

That... Was a really easy one.

15. Cat/Suzee

"Can't Find My Way Home" -- Alison Krauss

Come down on your own
and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason
I've been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.

Well, here we've got a title that is literally true, and a bit about out-of-body experiences, which is sort of like invisible inter-dimensional travel?

16. Dumbledore/Grindelwald

"War Baby" -- Tom Robinson

I don't think I could stand another ten years of this fighting
All this stabbing and wounding - only getting my own back
I don't want to batter you to your feet and knees and elbows
When I'm kneeling like a candle at the foot of my own bed

Corresponding disasters every night on the TV
Sickening reality keeps gripping me in its guts
All my friends talk and joke and laugh about Armageddon
But like a nightmare it's still waiting there at the end of every day

HELLO, PERFECTEST OF SONGS. *__*

17. Ted/Booster

"Moonage Daydream" -- David Bowie

I'm an alligator, I'm a mama-papa coming for you
I'm the space invader, I'll be a rock 'n' rollin' bitch for you
Keep your mouth shut,
you're squawking like a pink monkey bird
And I'm busting up my brains for the words

....Aaaand not-so-perfectest of songs. To be fair, this song just plain doesn't make much sense.

18. Guy/Tora

"Bird On A Wire" -- k d lang

If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.

He is trying so hard to be a nice person! God, I love them so much.

19. Scandal/Knockout

"Come Home" -- Placebo

Glass and petrol vodka gin, it feels like breathing methane.
Throw yourself from skin to skin, and still it doesn't dull the pain.
Vanish like a lipstick trace, it always blows me away.

So remember when Kay died and Scandal drank herself into a stupor (and the team thought the best way to deal with this was to hire a stripper who looked like Kay, because they are IDIOTS)? Yeah. That's what this is about.
