Let me tell you something about myself—
I have superpowers. Well, a superpower.
It is the ability to detect books I’m looking for at second-hand places.
This week I lost my public transit photo ID card thing, so today I went to get a new one, but it turned out the photo office didn’t open for another hour and a half. But before I went home, I felt the unmistakeable draw of cheap, out-of-print kids’ books. I followed it to a thrift store that I knew was in the area, where it turned out it was half-price Friday. I found ten books at a dollar each.
Harriet the Spy, which I need for school (and is still in print, but for considerably more than a dollar). The first two Bunnicula books (I just started looking for these a month ago, and thanks to my mutant ability or whatever I already have all but the last one). Three Moomintroll books, including one I don’t remember having read before. Four older Gordon Korman books, including one of his older-teen books that I had never even heard of.
Best superpower ever.
