1. Post about something that made you happy today, even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this every day for eight days without fail.
ROSH HASHANNAH IS MY FAVOURITEST HOLIDAY, YOU GUYS. Well, at least, it is my favourite Jewish holiday, I am also rather fond of Hallowe'en and Easter. But, well, basically all the holidays are centred on food, and for Rosh Hashannah the foods in question are all awesome. Challah with raisins in! Apples! Honey cake!
The people we celebrate with (friends of the family + their friends) are really great people! Their son is eight, and he is just like me at that age, it is kind of scary. He is into Pokemon and Harry Potter! (There is a "Kids these days" rant here about how they can get all the HP books at once now. He started reading them in June and he is already at DH! That's not fair!) IL talking to people about HP, as you have probably noticed? But it is weird when it is kids because he's not so good about like, complex moral questions, and stuff.
Also, it being a Jewish holiday, there was a lot of wine consumed! Now, when I drink I just get ridiculously opinionated. I mean, usually when I notice I'm being obnoxious I calm down and say "...Um, I have opinions!" in a vaguely self-deprecating way? But that does not happen after three different wines and also some cognac! Whatever, I shared my Thoughts On Michael Moore (they are pretty negative!) with a roomful of people who are more educated than me. I am kind of hoping none of them ever become my teachers (most of them are TAs and grad students at my school), because that could get really awkward?
In conclusion, Only Child Syndrome has made me more comfortable with adults than with my peers all my life, it has only recently become vaguely useful. Also, talking to kids about Harry Potter is AWESOME.
