Before I do this, I'm going to throw some links here. [livejournal.com profile] sharpest_rose has started unlocking her old DC fic! Including Jabberwock, which I have, uh, talked about extensively, and all of 2004

GUESS WHAT I'LL BE READING THIS WEEKEND *___*

(I am just realising how young I was when these were written. To be fair, I came late to the party, I think I actually read them spring of 2006, but still, I was fifteen in spring of 2006. Uh, the Robin suit gives me magic? :D?)

Favourite Weapon

I was all set to say power ring here. I am wearing a Green Lantern shirt and everything. But then I thought about it a little and no, that is not my answer at all. Because the Scarab exists. It is a weapon! It is armour! It is a costume! It is an annoying robot/alien sidekick! It is all of this and more! I love that nobody but Jaime can understand the Scarab-- Including the readers. (except in Tiny Titans, where Jaime's sentient backpack seemed to have a crush on Kara. Hey, I never claimed to understand the book, I just read it.) I love how many times he has to remind it not to use lethal force. (I am a Jason Todd fan, of course I do.) I love that unlike Dan and Ted, the Scarab makes Jaime actually look insect-like. (I actually considered including this in the costume post yesterday, but I figured nine favourites was more than enough.) I just-- This is one of the most powerful weapons in the known universe! And Jaime's secret power fantasy is still to be a dentist. Okay, so I wouldn't love the Scarab nearly so much if it had a different bearer.

....I really need to reread Blue Beetle. Maybe I should, y'know, actually buy the trades, at some point.
